Project on enforcement of outstanding claims by SMEs operating across borders (2013 - 2014)

Project on enforcement of outstanding claims by SMEs operating across borders (2013 - 2014)

Small companies doing business in an EU country outside of their own often face debt recovery problems with clients located in other EU countries. These problems can discourage them from engaging in cross-border activities and prevent them from benefitting from the European single market. The main aim of this project was to raise awareness of claims management instruments and improve their use through a series of events organised in all EU countries.

Objectives of the project:

  • to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that operate across borders and SME stakeholders with information on credit and claims management;
  • to distribute practice-based guidelines;
  • to develop teaching modules for vocational advanced training and the advanced training of young entrepreneurs.

Events in EU countries

A series of national events covering all 28 EU countries were organised between March 2013 and June 2014. They provided SMEs and stakeholders with information on credit and claims management, and helped optimise their business procedures in this area.
