The purpose of this study is to collect and analyse data to be able to report on the estimated volume and impact of the cybertheft of trade secrets.

The study will also examine whether this issue is considered to be a real problem by relevant stakeholders so that appropriate policy responses can be considered. These could include awareness raising actions on the threat and best practice in dealing with it, or the creation of a more systematic data collection based on voluntary reporting using channels where anonymity is ensured.
