The European Commission organised the conference, 'Single Market for Products: Fresh ideas to unleash the full potential' as part of the Single Market Strategy.

The event aimed to gather collective intelligence from participants on how mutual recognition in the Single Market for products can be improved and on how the number of non-compliant products in the Single Market can be reduced.

More than 150 participants came, representing national authorities, business and consumer organisations, and conformity assessment and standardisation bodies.

In the morning, there were short presentations of the problems that businesses and authorities are currently facing in these areas, followed by a brainstorming on potential solutions.

In the afternoon, there were thematic workshops on specific topics, led by moderators who collected and presented the results to all participants.

The webstream of the event will be online for two years.
