Reducing food waste - adding value to national production in Portugal

On the date when the National Production Day is celebrated (26/4), IAPMEI- Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, public institute supervised by the Ministry of the Economy and the SEA Of Portugal, reinforces its commitment to raise awareness among companies and other players in the food chain for the importance of combating food waste, disclosing solutions that are already being implemented and that are new opportunities for more sustainable businesses.

Watch the video with examples of good practices by companies in Portugal that have turned food waste into new business opportunities.

IAPMEI is one of the members of the National Commission to Combat Food Waste (CNCDA), which in this context is responsible for promoting the development of innovative processes among small and medium-sized companies in the national industry. Since 2018, it has promoted dissemination actions on this topic and on the solutions that SMEs have been able to implement to end this scourge.
