Committees play a key role in ensuring that EU Decisions and Regulations on food and feed safety, animal health & welfare and plant health are practical and effective. For more information on Comitology in general, click here.

The Commission may consult the relevant Committee on draft measures it is planning to adopt. The Committee can then deliver an opinion on the Commission's work.

Committees are made up of representatives from the EU countries. They are chaired by a European Commission representative.

Calendar of Committee meetings

Appeal committees

Where no opinion is delivered during a vote at a regular committee the Commission may submit the draft implementing act to the Appeal Committee for further deliberation.

PAFF committees

Standing Committees deliver opinions that inform the Commission's work on measures that it is planning.
