Reducing food waste has enormous potential for reducing the resources we use to produce the food we eat.

Fighting food waste is a triple win: it saves food for human consumption; brings savings for primary producers, companies and consumers; and lowers the environmental and climate impact of food production and consumption.

Committed to halving per capita food waste at retail and consumer levels by 2030 and reducing food losses along the food production and supply chains (Sustainable Development Goal Target 12.3), the Commission will pursue its EU action plan including:
