Call for expressions of interest for the position of member of EFSA's Management Board

Decision

The decision appointing seven members of the EFSA Management Board was adopted by the Council on 26 June 2020 and published in the Official Journal on 2 July 2020.

On 30 January 2020 the European Commission adopted a decision on the list of candidates for submission to the Council and the European Parliament with a view to the appointment of 7 members of the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Partial renewal of the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority

Applications were invited for 7 of the 14 positions as members of the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority, established by Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 January 2002 laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety. The Authority is located in Parma, Italy.

The term of the mandate should be four years (starting on 1 July 2020). However, the duration of the term of office will be subject to amendments when the European Parliament and the Council formally adopt the new Regulation on the transparency and sustainability of the EU risk assessment in the food chain amending Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 and eight other Union acts (‘Transparency regulation’) in the course of summer 2019. The new Transparency Regulation is expected to enter into application in the first half of 2021, after the appointment by the Council of the 7 members selected on the basis of this call for expressions of interest. As such, the term of office shall end on 30 June 2022.

The call for expressions of interest is published in the Official Journal of the European Union : OJ C 179 of 24 May 2019.

The final deadline for submission of applications was 19 July 2019

The Commission shortlist:

The Commission shortlist is scheduled for adoption on 30 January. All applicants will be informed about the results shortly after the day of the adoption.
