Konsultatīvās padomes ir ieinteresēto personu vadītas organizācijas, kas Komisijai un ES dalībvalstīm sniedz ieteikumus par zivsaimniecības pārvaldību. Ieteikumi var būt par zivju krājumu saglabāšanu un pārvaldības sociālekonomiskajiem aspektiem, kā arī par noteikumu vienkāršošanu. Konsultatīvo padomju viedokli ņem vērā reģionalizācijas procedūrā. Konsultatīvās padomes arī piedalās zivsaimniecības pārvaldībai un vides aizsardzībai nepieciešamo datu vākšanā.
Konsultatīvajās padomēs ietilpst nozares un citu interešu grupu pārstāvji (viņiem piešķirti attiecīgi 60 % – 40 % vietu ģenerālajā asamblejā un izpildkomitejā). Būdamas struktūras, kas tiecas sasniegt mērķi ar vispārēju Eiropas nozīmi, šīs padomes saņem finanšu atbalstu no ES.
