24 April at 13:30, the European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ms Maria Damanaki will inaugurate the new European Market Observatory for Fisheries and Aquaculture products (EUMOFA). This new on-line multilingual database will bring market intelligence and transparency, by providing real time and comprehensive data on price, value and volume of production across the European Union.

Based on the CFP reform principles, a new generation of Fisheries Partnership Agreements (FPA) is being put in place with a number of third countries to provide access to the EU fleet in non-EU fishing grounds and to promote good governance in third countries' waters. These new FPAs are based inter alia on improved scientific knowledge, greater transparency, and more balanced contributions between the EU and shipowners.
