The operational programmes describe and justify the measures that national authorities intend to support under the different priority areas (axes) of European fisheries fund for 2007-2013. The programmes also include a financing plan with a breakdown of the budget for each year and the amounts earmarked for the different priorities over the whole programming period.
The operational programmes have to be approved by the Commission, which checks that they are consistent – not only with the objectives of the CFP, but also with other relevant EU policies and priorities. The programmes must also be consistent with the national strategic plan that has been adopted by the country concerned.
