The Aquaculture Advisory Council (AAC) was established in late 2016 in the framework of the Common Fisheries Policy. This stakeholder-led organisation has as main objective to provide the European institutions and the Member States with recommendations and advice on issues related to the sustainable development of the sector.
The AAC is composed of representatives from the industry and other stakeholders, with a 60% - 40% allocation of the seats in the general assembly and the executive committee. As a body pursuing an aim of general European interest It receives EU financial assistance and will be based in Brussels.
The AAC is composed of 3 working groups on finfish, shellfish, and horizontal issues, a General Assembly and an Executive Committee.
