Kansalaiskeskustelu komission 1. varapuheenjohtaja Frans Timmermansin kanssa 10.11.2016

You are warmly welcome to discuss with Frans Timmermans, the First Vice-President of the European Commission, issues related to EU's future, including the priorities the EU should be focussing on to meet today's challenges - such as investing in sustainable jobs and economies, migration, terrorism, and instability in our close neighbourhood, as well as how we maintain and promote our shared European values.

Never before has European Union experienced changes and challenges such as those seen today.  Our citizens and the world are watching us. In these times there is a need to focus on what unites us rather than what divides us. We want to hear from you what needs to change and why – and where you want the European Union to head.

The discussion will be driven by questions from the floor and will be moderated by Ms Teija Tiilikainen, Director of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (UPI). We are pleased that Finnish MEPs Sirpa Pietikäinen (EPP), Liisa Jaakonsaari (S&D) and Jussi Halla-aho (ECR) will join in the debate. Mr Riku Rantala, one of the founders of the Startup Refugees, will also contribute to the debate.

The Citizens' Dialogue will be held in English. The event is free of charge and open to everyone, and you do not need to be an expert in European affairs to take part – we want to hear from the widest possible range of people. The event is organised by the European Commission Representation in Finland.

Please register by 9th November.
