AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES > FISHERIES

Project overview[last update : 04-04-2019]

SDMX implementation has enabled the collection of fisheries data to be simplified as well as shared efficiently between Eurostat, the FAO, ICES and other Regional Fisheries Organisations (RFOs). Efficiency gains have been made by minimising the duplication of work by collecting agencies and through standardising the formats and concepts used in exchanges.

Eurostat collects data for catches and landings as well as aquaculture. The key species list uses the annual list (ASFIS) and their associated codes as provided by the FAO.

DSD availability

The following Data Structure Definitions (DSDs) are available in the Euro SDMX Registry.

Catches and landings: FISH_CATCH_A, FISH_CATCH_21B, FISH_CATCH_21BEFF, FISH_LANDG_A

Aquaculture: FISH_AQ2, FISH_AQ3, FISH_AQ4, FISH_AQ5

Transmission and Validation

All datasets transmitted to Eurostat must be through EDAMIS (Eurostat's Single Entry Point)
