The 2020 edition of the digital publication "The European economy since the start of the millennium" is released today covering for the first time data for the aggregate European Union with 27 Member States.
This publication gives a good overview of how the European economy has evolved since 2000 for a large range of data, answering questions such as: How have prices changed during this period? How has trade evolved? Is the unemployment rate lower or higher today than at the start or the millennium? Are house prices higher or lower? On what is the government spending money?
Answers to these questions and many more can be found in this publication through short texts and interactive visualisations, where you can compare your country with other countries.
This edition only describes the situation up to the year 2019 at the most. As a consequence, the first findings of any COVID-19 related implications will only be possible in the next edition of the publication. For information on short-term indicators including COVID-19 related implications, please see the dedicated website section.
