The 2019 SDMX global conference will take place in Budapest from 16-19 September 2019. If you are interested in how statistical data and metadata are exchanged, this is for you.
The Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX) is an international initiative to standardise and modernise the exchange of statistical data and metadata among international organisations and their partners.
The conference takes place every two years and is organised by several international organisations (IMF, WB, OECD, BIS, ECB, UNSD) and Eurostat. This year’s event is prepared in collaboration with and hosted by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. The objective of the conference is twofold: On the one hand, it raises awareness of the SDMX standard. On the other, it showcases the latest developments and communicates the way forward.
Eurostat has been investing heavily in the SDMX standard and has been coordinating and implementing work, both within Eurostat and across the European Statistical System.
EU Member States began to transmit national accounts data using the SDMX format in 2013. Eurostat is actively working on other similarly large projects such as education and labour statistics, whilst other sponsors are running projects in other statistical areas.
