Statistics Illustrated

The map below shows the following two indicators:

  • Real GDP growth rate (percentage change on previous year in volume)
  • Gross domestic product (GDP) in Euro per inhabitant (at market prices, current prices)

While current price figures, based on observed market prices, can be used to compare GDP across countries, the development of GDP over time should be analysed excluding inflation, i.e. based on volume figures.
