Eurostat, the European Commission’s statistical office, is committed to making its public-facing website accessible, in accordance with the Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This website is being optimized to apply the European standard EN 301 549 and it is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA standard.
An accessibility assessment was performed by an independent Norwegian company in 2018, on a sample of webpages. The website was found to be 84% compliant with the (WCAG) 2.0 standard. Following that assessment, all possible remediation actions were implemented across the platform and on the individual pages. Aspects such as description of images, keyboard only navigability and others, have been taken into account.
The complete report can be found here.
Please note that our statistical products often include maps and other visual interactive elements that are difficult to optimize for accessibility.
