Conditions on the labour market are in favour of job seekers and companies are ready to offer bonuses, increased salary, non-pay benefits such as mobile phones, contributions to sport activities or company kindergarten for families.
In June 2010 few job seekers were succesful in finding a job. There was one vacant job per 15.2 job applicants due to economic recession. Seven years later the job search duration is shorter and there are 1.6 job applicants per vacant job. The Labour Office of the Czech Republic (LO CR) had 183 000 vacant jobs and 297 439 job applicants registered.
The President of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), Ms Iva Ritschelová, appointed on 8 August 2017 a new Vice-President of the CZSO – Ms Eva Krumpová. Ms Krumpová will be in charge of the activities of the Regional Offices of the CZSO.
The refined estimate confirmed results of the preliminary GDP estimate. The gross domestic product in the first quarter of 2017 was higher by 1.3%, quarter-on-quarter (q o q), and by 2.9%, year-on-year (y-o-y). The Czech economy growth was contributed to by both external and domestic demand.
An international meeting on the influence of digital and sharing economy on GDP took place at the CZSO.
National accounts experts met in Prague to discuss digital economy, sharing economy, and non-market services. A group of 15 foreign experts and experts from the CZSO attended this Eurostat Task Force meeting on price and volume calculations in national accounts.
