Statistics Austria hosted this year the 8th Conference on the integration of geography and statistics of the European Forum for Geography and Statistics (EFGS) from 10-12 November 2015 in Vienna, Austria.
The motto of this year’s conference was “Building Bridges” and stands for the important bridge between NSIs and National Mapping and Cadastral Authorities (NMCAs) through the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) process. The conference put the focus on "The true integration of geography and statistics through the UN-GGIM process" during both the keynote and the conference sessions.
From the 2nd to the 5th of June 2014 more than 450 experts from national statistical institutes, universities and national or international organisations participated in the 7th European Conference on Quality in Official Statistics (Q2014) in Vienna. The conference, organized by EUROSTAT and STATISTICS AUSTRIA and held in the beautiful venue of Schönbrunn Castle, was partitioned into 39 parallel and three plenary sessions with a total of 170 given talks. The scientific conference programme covered a broad spectrum of topics. This is also reflected in the present special issue of the Austrian Journal of Statistics (AJS) on Q2014, for which contributors from different areas could be won as authors.
The special issue AJS Vol 44/2 with special guest editors Gerhard Nachtmann and Andreas Quatember can be accessed for free.
