A free project management methodology supporting the ESS
In April 2018, over three days, 20 participants from EU Members States and candidate countries came together with Eurostat colleagues to learn about Open PM2 and how it is used in the ESS Vision 2020 projects. PM2 is the EU institutions’ project management methodology. Following the launch of its Open Edition in November 2016, it is now being translated into several languages and made available for free to interested parties.
The three-day course, targeting budding project managers, just gave a taste of how working together can be improved by having a common understanding, a common vocabulary, a common methodology and common tools.
What were the learning outcomes for the participants? Denis Kaschuba, a new project manager from Destatis, who is just starting out in his role, gave us permission to share his feedback:
"What have I gained personally? A great overview of what our institution can expect in the future, i.e. the PM2 instrument. My colleague and I are two of the few at our institution at the moment who can claim to have an idea about it and we can use our knowledge as multiplicators. Moreover, I definitely improved my knowledge of ESS2020, since I am not directly involved in this. For me, it was good because the course was for beginners and I am definitely one of them. Destatis has now more people able to push forward PM2 in the future internally, thus other colleagues will benefit from this knowledge during upcoming visits to EUROSTAT on subject-matter issues. So I strongly encourage beginners and those thinking of introducing a centralised PM system at their NSI to attend this course."
The agenda and the course materials are available on Circa BC
