Why are these statistics important and what is the European Commission doing in this regard?
Key indicators such as “participation in early childhood education”, “early leavers from education and training” and “tertiary educational attainment” are among the indicators for which the 'Council Resolution on a strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training towards the European Education Area and beyond (2021-2030)' sets EU-level targets, i.e. reference levels of European average performance in education and training.
Education and training statistics are also of interest for everyone – issues related to education, vocational training and adult learning are of direct concern for EU citizens.
