Strategy for agricultural statistics for 2020 and beyond

Agriculture is changing due to globalisation, climate and societal change. Partly in reaction, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and other EU policies related to agriculture are changing. This creates important new data needs for agricultural statistics which are currently not fulfilled. At the same time, official statistics are changing due to technological progress and the availability of new data sources while resources continue to be cut.

Eurostat has therefore drafted a Strategy for Agricultural Statistics for 2020 and beyond in close collaboration with the main data users and producers of agricultural statistics like DG AGRI, DG ENV, DG CLIMA, DG SANTE and National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) in EU Member States.

The impact assessment report of the strategy for agricultural statistics for 2020 and beyond was approved by the Regulatory Scrutiny Board and published on the European Commission's Better Regulation website.
