Consumer price levels in the EU, 2018

Eurostat publishes a data visualisation tool as well as some interesting facts & figures on consumer price levels in the EU, Member States and EFTA countries.

Did you know?

 that in the EU in 2018 …

... the highest food prices were in Denmark (30% higher than the EU average), while the lowest food prices were registered in Romania (35% lower than the EU average)?

Ireland was the most expensive country for housing, including water, electricity and fuel (57% higher than the EU average) while Luxembourg was the most expensive for furniture (21% higher than the EU average)?

... the lowest prices for communication were observed in Poland (55% lower than the EU average) while the highest were registered in Greece (58% higher than the EU average)?

… the Netherlands was the most expensive country for transport services (34% higher than the EU average) while the lowest transport prices were recorded in Bulgaria (54% lower than the EU average)?
