Urban clusters, 2018, - Population distribution - Dataset
This dataset contains urban clusters, based on local population data of 2018. Urban clusters are defined as groups of contiguous raster cells of 1 sqkm size, having a population density of at least 300 inhabitants/sqkm and a total population of at least 5000. The definition of urban clusters underpins the urban/rural typology of NUTS3 regions and the degree of urbanisation classification of local administrative (LAU) units. Data are available for EU countries (excluding the outermost regions of France and Portugal), EFTA, and Candidates (excluding Turkey) and the UK. Data was created via a ArcPy process defined by DG Regio using the JRC 2018 Population Grid.
