The applications had necessarily to use a big data and should ideally also have used European official statistics.
Eurostat provided access to 5 datasets which the teams could use to develop their prototypes:
- Web scrapped data on job vacancies from Cedefop
- EU-LFS and EU-SILC public use files
- Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC)
You can find details on these datasets in the data catalogue.
Teams could use additional data sources which they could prepare in advance. These additional data sources needed to have an international applicability, i.e. they either covered all EU member-states or they were national data sources but could be available in several member states. They should also allow the particular data product to be possibly released as a policy tool at European level.
