The Industrial Products Import Price Index has to measure the monthly price evolution of industrial products (products of classes 0610, 1920 and 2910) of Portugal countries of the European Union belonging to the non-euro area and third countries.
When the data of a new period is disseminated, data from the two previous periods are revised. The data become final in the March dissemination of following the year to which the data refer.

Due to harmonized STS indices in the European Union, it is possible to compare calculated Portuguese aggregates with those of other European countries. There is no regional desegregation, but all national territory is covered, including the AR’s (Azores and Madeira).

To ensure comparability over time, it is tried to keep the data base as steady as possible. STS indices are compared over time (previous month and year). Base 2021 series have been back casted until 2005. Base 2010 have been back casted also until 2005. Base 2005 series have been back casted until 2000.

Cross-checks with absolute STS-values (previous month and year). At the first release moment no other data is available for comparisons. At the end of each year an annual trend is compared with the trend of the administrative source IES/SBS. 3 months after the release period comparisons with an administrative source – Social Security - for 2 digits level NACE Rev 2 (confidential data). Trade Statistics are the source of the sample.

Cost and burden can only be measured for the whole variables 120,121,122 210, 220 and 230. Cost remain 4907 (this measurement wasn´t updated) and burden 28,5 minutes evaluated by inquiry made on 2016.
