18.3. Data collection

The data collection process is explained for each type of questionnaire used in preparing the energy balance:

  • Coal questionnaire: The data is sent by electronic file to the mailbox of the Energy Statistics Area. Checks are done automatically by internal template before data can be submitted officially.
  • Electricity questionnaire: The data is sent electronically through the ESCILA application - this application belongs to the Energy Statistics Area. Checks are done automatically by the applications before data can be submitted to the Energy Statistics Area.
  • Natural gas questionnaire: The data is sent electronically through the ESFINGE application - this application belongs to the Energy Statistics Area. Checks are done automatically by the applications before data can be submitted to the Energy Statistics Area.
  • Renewable energy questionnaire: The data is sent electronically and by means of an electronic file to the Department of Planning and Studies of IDAE. IDAE Database validates data before submitting it to the Energy Statistics Area
  • Petroleum products questionnaire: Before the 20th of each month, agents send CORES electronically  forms with exhaustive information related to their activity last month: sales and consumption, imports and exports, stocks, balance information, etc. CORES Database validates data before submitting it to the Energy Statistics Area
  • Nuclear energy questionnaire: The data is sent annually by the Subdirectorate General for Nuclear Energy, of the MITERD, to the mailbox of the Energy Statistics Area. Checks are done automatically by internal template before data can be submitted officially.

 
18.4. Data validation

For each questionnaire, in the questionnaire completion phase, an inconsistency detection system is used so that informants can confirm the information provided.
