Share of fossil fuels in gross available energy represents the portion of energy needs that come from fossil fuels. It indicates the level of used energy that produces greenhouse gas emissions when combusted. This indicator can be used in monitoring of several strategies and programs. |

| 4.1. Data description | |||
Share of fossil fuels in gross available energy is calculated as sum of all fossil sources divided by the total of all fuels. The indicator is expressed as percentage, thus numerically the ratio is multiplied by 100. In addition, introduction of new statistical information in the most recent data collections can lead to breaks in series until information is compiled and provided by reporting countries. |
