Data are recorded in the Danish Fisheries Agency’s Aquaculture register. In this register all data is accessible at the level of reporting i.e. information concerning facility structure is accessible on the level of facility or groups of similar facilities owned by the same company, while information on the annual input and output is accessible at the level of species, size and origin/usage within the facility or group of facilities. It is compiled to meet the requirement of the different AQ-reports.
In some instances the collected data does not meet the requirements and definitions set by Eurostat since these do not comply with reality of the production processes in the Aquaculture business units. In those instances the following estimation techniques has been used:
a) Reg. Annex 2. Data on production units and type of production water are collected on the level of facility. Hence, if a facility contains more than one type of production unit and/or water, it has been necessary to divide the production on production units and waters, when reporting to the Eurostat .
b) Facilities with more than one type of production water: If a facility uses both fresh and saltwater in their production, the production of that facility is split equally between the two water types, except for species that only adapts to either salt or fresh water. For those the full production is reported on the water type of the species.
c) Facilities with more than one kind of production units: If a facility produces in more than one kind of production unit, the production of that facility is split between the units according to the size of the units.
d) Reg. Annex 3. Eggs collected from the wild are in pieces (as for live eggs from farms) and not in kilos. Hence the following conversion factors have been used when calculating weight:
- TRS, SAL and HOU: 10.000 eggs pr. kilo
- PLN: 150.000 eggs pr. kilo
- FPI: 160.000 eggs pr. kilo
- FPP: 1.500.000 eggs pr. kilo
- FLE: 1.005.000 eggs pr. kilo
