The livestock and meat statistics are collected under the Regulation (EC) No 1165/2008. They cover slaughtering in slaughterhouses (monthly) in terms of number and caracass weight for bovines, pigs, sheep and goats and poultry and other slaughtering for sheep and goats, in accordance with the Regulation (ANNEX I specifies categories and definitions). |

Statistics on meat production are collected on a monthly basis and relate to the number and carcass weight of animals, bovine, pigs, sheep, goats and poultry slaughtered in slaughterhouses and slaughtering carried out other than in slaughterhouses, sheep and goats, whose meat is fit for human consumption. The statistics on slaughtering in slaughterhouses and slaughtering carried out other than in slaughterhouses are produced on a monthly and annualy basis. The reference period is the calendar month and the calendar year respectively. |

Slaughtering in slaughterhouses: The montly data covers all slaugtherhouses and refers to the number and an averages carcass weight for each category of animal as set by the Regulation - Annex IV. Annual data is the sum of the monthly data. Slaughtering other than in slaughterhouses: In the case of Cyprus, only a very small number of sheep and goats are slaughtered outside the slaughterhouses and this is estimated. |
