3.1. Data description

Statistical information on the number of laying hens and on eggs production for human consumption. Sample survey on the number of livestock and animal production (including eggs) on private farms are conducted on the basis of the Statistical farm Register. As many as 7000 farmers and family farms, breeding cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses and poultry (including laying hens), were recorded. The survey of the number of livestock and poultry is carried out in all regions. Once per year a sample survey of livestock is carried out. All the surveys are integrated into a single livestock survey. Information on farmers’ and family farms is collected by interviewers through face-to-face interviews the residents have been afforded an opportunity to fill in statistical questionnaires online. In case of agricultural companies and enterprises, exhaustive surveys are carried out. Annual statistical questionnaires filled in by responsible persons and submitted through an electronic statistical data preparation and transfer system.

13. Accuracy Top
13.1. Accuracy - overall

Statistical surveys on farmers’ and family farms are carried out through sampling methods, on agricultural companies and enterprises – through an exhaustive (census) survey. In calculating the indicator estimates, statistical data are analysed by assessing outliers; data are edited. The non-response rate is evaluated, i.e. reweighting estimators are used for recalculating sampling design weights. Assessment method – SAS proc surveymeans. Estimated values of population totals and estimates of the sampling variance are combined from two sources: a stratified simple random sample of farmers' and family farms and a census survey of agricultural companies and enterprises. Both surveys are drawn independently of each other.

18.1. Source data

Statistical surveys: annual statistical questionnaire on the number of livestock and animal production in agricultural companies and enterprises ZUM-24, annual statistical questionnaire on the number of livestock and animal production in agricultural companies and enterprises (shortened) ZUP-24, annual statistical questionnaire on the number of livestock and animal production on farmers’ and family farms ZUU-02. Administrative sources are used for some characteristics, for the units in the sample, either by taking directly the data or by prefilling the questionnaires. Number of laying hens from Animal Register is taken to prefill questionnaire. For example number of laying hens in the begining and the end of year. If are some changes in farms, these data could be revised. If farms keeps laying hens, then eggs should be collected in this farm.

18.1.1. Description of data collection process

Information on farmers’ and family farms is collected by interviewers through face-to-face interviews (statistical questionnaire ZUU-02), the residents have been afforded an opportunity to fill in statistical questionnaires online. As many as 7000 (11 % of the total number of farms) farmers and family farms are surveyed once per year. The survey of the number of livestock and poultry is carried out in all regions. Estimated values of population totals and estimates of the sampling variance are combined from two sources: a stratified simple random sample of farmers' and family farms and a census survey of agricultural companies and enterprises. Both surveys are drawn independently of each other. In case of agricultural companies and enterprises, exhaustive surveys are carried out. Annual statistical questionnaires filled in by responsible persons and submitted through an electronic statistical data preparation and transfer system.
