3.1. Data description

Data on poultry statistics and eggs production on farms are collected annually as a part of Annual livestock survey.

Data relates to total number of eggs by type of poultry and eggs utilisation on farms.

Data on production of day old chicks in hatcheries are collected according to Regulation (EC) No 617/2008.

With the 2015 grant the possibility of using potential administrative data sources for data on eggs for human consumption has been investigated.

Moreover a Pilot survey on packing centres and costs analysis were carried out to find the most acceptable method to collect the data on eggs for consumption in line with the Eurostat methodology.

Based on the Grant actions it was decided to continue to collect data on eggs for consumption as a part of Annual livestock survey.

19. Comment Top

Until 2016 data for business entities were collected on reports, which are then submitted by mail to the CBS (Croatian Bureau of Statistics).

Starting 2016, data for business entities are collected in two ways: on reports which are submitted to the CBS by postal service and via a web application through which the reporting units themselves fill in data.

Until 2015 data for private family farms were collected by using the interview method applied to a selected stratified sample.

Starting 2015 data for private family farms are collected by using the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) method applied to a selected stratified sample.
