Statistics on the production of eggs for consumption are collected in frame of the annual survey on poultry production. Figures represent the number of laying hens and the number of eggs for consumption produced in agricultural holdings keeping at least 5,000 laying hens.

1 ha of utilized agricultural area

1,500 m² of grown intensive crops (orchards, vegetables, flowers)

1,000 m² of vineyards

300 m² of greenhouses

1 cattle

2 pigs

4 sheep and goats

50 poultry

100 rabbits

100 fur animals

The economic activity of holdings keeping laying hens and producing eggs for consumption is classified by NACE code 01.47.

Definitions applied to data collection are in line with the EU methodology.

The data collection, processing, and dissemination of statistics on egg production is carried out pursuant to the Act No 89/1995 Sb, on the State Statistical Service, as amended, within a statistical survey, which is part of the Programme of Statistical Surveys carried out by the Czech Statistical Office. The Programme was set by the Decree No 373/2017 Sb, on the Programme of Statistical Surveys for the year 2018.

Data on egg production and the number of hens are collected within the annual sample survey on poultry production in agricultural holdings keeping poultry.

The sample set is stratified according to size of holding, its specialisation and region. The stratum of holdings with at least 5,000 head of poultry is exhaustive.

In total, 35 agricultural holdings with at least 5,000 laying hens were surveyed in 2018.

Adjustment for non-response (imputation) is carried out according to similar units in the stratum.

In 2018, imputations for non-response accounted for 4.4% in laying hens and 4.1% in egg production.

Data are validated for the average yearly egg yield (in range of 200-325 eggs per hen).
