Which method is used for calculating the yield for main arable crops? |
Production divided by sown area production divided by harvested area |
If another method, describe it. |
Production divided by sown area: applies for final values in the most of cases. Production divided by harvested area: Harvested areas are surveyed only for selected crops (grain maize, green maize, hops). Yield is surveyed in the field and production volume is assessed on the basis of the yield: applies for Harvest Estimates. |

Definitions |
Question |
In case yes, how do they differ? |
Do national definitions differ from the definitions in Article 2 of Regulation (EC) No 543/2009? |
YES |
T1: Area under cultivation corresponds to the sown area as at 31 May. In addition, harvested areas of selected crops (grain maize, green maize, hops) are surveyed. Non-harvested area (area under cultivation ruined by natural disasters or not harvested for economic reasons etc.) is not taken into consideration. T2: Sowing area as at 31 May of vegetables was reported until 2017. Harvested area of vegetables is reported since 2018. |
Are there differences between the national methodology and the methodology described in the Handbook concerning e.g. the item and aggregate calculations? |
YES |
Explanation for discrepancy of area (T1) and main area (T4) of I0000 'Industrial crops': Hops (included in I0000) is considered as a permanent crop in CZ. Harvested and main areas of hops are surveyed in the same manner as those of other permanent crops. T1: the area of I4000 'Hops' (included in I0000) corresponds to the harvested area, i.e. area linked to the harvested production important for yield calculation. T4: the main area of I4000 'Hops' (included in I0000) covers the total area of hops including non-producing areas such as new plantations not yet started to produce in given year. |

Population
Which measures were taken in order to make sure that the requirement stipulated in Art. 3.2 are met? (Statistics shall be representative of at least 95 % of the areas of each table in the Regulation). |
Annual Crop Statistics are representative for the whole agricultural sector. ACS include all units registered in the Farm Register. The Farm Register is maintained by the Czech statistical Office (CZSO), its legal basis is Decree No 126/2001. Entities dealing with agricultural activities (by the NACE classification) in the Farm Register meet the following thresholds: 1 ha of utilised agricultural area; or 1,500 m2 area of specialty crops (vineyards, orchards, hop gardens, flowers and ornamental plants, vegetables, aromatic, medicinal and culinary plants); or 1 head of cattle; or 2 head of pigs; or 4 head of sheep and goats; or 50 head of poultry. The Farm Register is used as the basis for all agricultural statistical surveys and is regularly updated based on results of all agricultural surveys conducted by the CZSO and available administrative sources, especially IACS. |
