Agricultural land purchase price refers to the monetary value paid for agricultural land (arable land, permanent grassland and pastures).

Agricultural land rental price refers to the monetary value that an owner of land receives from agricultural production producer for the leased agricultural land.

A statistical survey on agricultural land prices and rents and calculation of corresponding average prices is being carried out by the Agricultural Information and Rural Business Centre (AIRBC) in Lithuania since 2000. This agricultural land market data collection system was based on local expert estimates collected in the form of questionnaires from agricultural holdings that were purchasing or renting agricultural land for agricultural use. The data were collected at a sub-municipality level (NUTS 5), however due to the market inactivity or non-responses it did not cover all the territory.

A statistical survey on agricultural land prices and rents and calculation of corresponding average prices is being carried out by the Agricultural Information and Rural Business Centre (AIRBC) in Lithuania since 2000. This agricultural land market data collection system was based on local expert estimates collected in the form of questionnaires from agricultural holdings that were purchasing or renting agricultural land for agricultural use. The average agricultural land prices and rents are obtained as the weighted average price or rent of different kind of land. The weights used are the area size of the kind of land collected in the questionnaire from agricultural holdings. The weights are based on the size and categories of the land purchased or rent.

In accordance with the Lithuanian definition of price of agricultural land and rents provided in the final report the transactions for non-agricultural purposes and transactions of land between relatives are excluded;

This agricultural land market data collection system was based on local expert estimates collected in the form of questionnaires from agricultural holdings that were purchasing or renting agricultural land for agricultural use. The data were collected at a sub-municipality level (NUTS 5), however due to the market inactivity or non-responses it did not cover all the territory.

The agricultural land prices and rents data collection system used since 2000 was based on local expert estimates collected in the form of questionnaires from agricultural holdings that were purchasing or renting agricultural land for agricultural use.  In the frame of the 2011 grant project the AIRBC compiled the 2011 and 2012 data on average purchase prices of agricultural land and agricultural land rents in line with the Target Methodology

The AIRBC was responsible for the collection of absolute land prices and rents as well as calculation of corresponding average prices for the country .  The information on purchase price of agricultural land was collected in 2011 from 413 agricultural holdings and from 504 holdings in 2012. As concerns the collection of data on rent prices 641 holdings were surveyed in 2011 and 586 in 2012 survey.
