13. Accuracy Top
13.1. Accuracy - overall

Survey on accommodation statistics is not a sample survey, so the estimates do not contain sampling error. The undercoverage error might occur because of the situation that not all units that offer accommodation services are always registered in relevant activity (NACE) in the Business Register of Latvia or might not be registered at all and so might not be included in survey as well as there are respondents who have refused to provide data at all. Also the accommodation establishments which started to operate during the second half of the year are mostly included in the survey starting from the January of next year. Data of capacity of all types of accommodation establishments has a high level of accuracy. The data are verified and anlysed in individual level and in aggregated level. There are very few missing answers and the survey is fully completed by respondents. The imputation of missing data is used when regular respondent has not submitted the data for the actual month - data is then imputed from the same month of previous year (if available) or previous month.

13.2.2 Additional comments on sampling error

Survey on accommodation statistics is not a sample survey, so the estimates do not contain sampling error.

Annexes:
13.2 Sampling error
13.3. Non-sampling error

13.3.1 Coverage-errors

13.3.1.1 Over-coverage

Over-coverage might occure due to the fact that the units are registered in the accommodation activities by NACE, but in fact they do not offer accommodation services to tourists so they are excluded from observation, but the rate can not be calculated. The precise value of over-coverage error can not be calculated.

13.3.1.2 Under-coverage

The undercoverage error might occur because of the situation that not all units that offer accommodation services are always registered in relevant activity (NACE) in the Business Register of Latvia or might not be registered at all and so might not be included in survey. The precise value of undercoverage error can not be calculated.

18.4. Data validation
18.4.1 Capacity

According to the capacity data the preprint of number of rooms and beds for each respondent is used in the online-survey questionnaire in Electronic Data Collection (EDC) system based on the information given by respondent on the first submission. In case of change it is corrected. Another data validation rules are carried out during loading the questionnaire into the database - check for large changes compared to previous period, logical relation between values. Errors are corrected on logical basis or by contacting the respondents.

18.4.2 Occupancy

Primary data controls are introduced for the online-survey questionnaire in Electronic Data Collection (EDC) system. List of data validation rules is carried out during the data entry of respondent - logical relation between values, arithmetic errors of values, missing values. Another data validation rules are carried out during loading the questionnaire into the database - completeness, check for large changes compared to previous period, logical relation between values. After that raw source data are checked and analysed - the comparability of data overtime, ratio of rooms/beds booked, occupancy rates for each respondent, abnormal values of nationalities of the guests. Errors are corrected on logical basis or by contacting the respondents.

18.5. Data compilation

Missing responses are imputed with data given by the same respondent from previous period (data of the same month of previous year or previous month). For some non-contact respondents the information of reviews of guests by nationality in reservation platform is used (if there are more reviews than number of guests respondent submitted in previous periods).
