3.4.2 Please describe the national definition of:

Newborn children to registered parents are registered. People residing in Sweden for at least one year shall register. The complete expulsion or extraction from the mother of a baby, irrespective of the duration of the pregnancy, which, after such separation, breathes or shows any other evidence of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of the voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached. Each product of such a birth is considered live born.

The permanent disappearance of all evidence of life at any time after live birth has taken place (postnatal cessation of vital functions without capability of resuscitation). This definition therefore excludes foetal deaths.

To be registered as an immigrant the person shall have the intention to stay in Sweden for at least one year. To be registered as an emigrant the person shall have the intention to stay aboad for at least one year.

 

3.4.3 Please provide details of the deviations of the  national definition used from the usual residence definition.

Persons who are not registered in Sweden, but has the intention to stay in the country for at least one year, are not included. Live born children to non-registered persons are not included. Deaths of non-registered persons are not included. Only persons who register are counted as immigrants. Only persons who deregister are counted as emigrants.

Data are available at national level of geographical detail.

The reference date for population data is the end of the reference period (midnight of 31st December).
The reference period for vital events data is the calendar year in which the events occurred.  
The reference period for migration flow data is the calendar year in which the migration occurred.

There are no particular reasons for unreliability of the data  on population. There are no particular reasons for unreliability of the data on live births. Counts of statistical units.

The population in the register received from the Tax Agency is considered to be the target population. Some coding is made for variables as sex and age. Which is made by using the unique personal identification number (PIN) of each person.
