Data are collected by the National Food Chain Safety Office based on EC regulation 1107/2009. According to the regulation  'Authorisation holders' shall provide the competent authorities of the Member States with all data relating to the volume of sales of plant protection products in accordance with Community legislation concerning statistics on plant protection products. Data collection is full-scale and obligatory. In 2015 number of data suppliers was: 56. Data were collected and processed at the Directorate of Plant Protection and Soil Conservation of National Food Chain Safety Office. Individual data were checked and corrected by the plant protection expert of the Office after the problems were clarified with data suppliers. Hungarian Central Statistical Office got the corrected data at national level.

Some quantities on active substances might be missing as a result, that certain plant protection products is authorized as soil improvers not pesticides. Therefore the authorization holder not obliged to provide data on the marketed quantity of them.
