Note 1: Data shown in this visualisation are collected according to the European system of accounts (ESA) 2010 methodology. They represent national accounts data broken down by institutional sector into the sequence of accounts, covering both non-financial accounts and financial accounts, as well as financial balance sheets.
Note 2: Data shown in this visualisation are retrieved from Eurostat's online database. Data for annual non-financial sector accounts (Table 8 of the ESA 2010 Transmission programme) can be found in the nasa_10_nf_tr dataset, while quarterly non-financial sector accounts (Table 801) can be found in the nasq_10_nf_tr dataset. Data for financial balance sheets are retrieved from the nasa_10_f_bs (annual) and nasq_10_f_bs (quarterly) datasets, for financial transactions from the nasa_10_f_tr (annual) and nasq_10_f_tr (quarterly) datasets, for the revaluation account from the nasa_10_f_gl (annual) and nasq_10_f_gl (quarterly) datasets, for other changes in volume from the nasa_10_f_oc (annual) and nasq_10_f_oc (quarterly) datasets. Quarterly financial data are sent to Eurostat by the European Central Bank.
Note 3: Sector accounts data by countries validated by Eurostat before the release of validated government finance statistics (GFS) are published excluding S.13 (general government) sector. Following release of GFS at around t+112 days, countries' sector accounts data are published including S.13 data. Therefore, data for sector S13 are made available with the final release of non-financial sector accounts according to Eurostat's release calendar of Euro indicators, also shown in the news area of the web page of sector accounts by institutional sector.
Note 4: National quarterly data for sectors S11, S12 and S1M are voluntary for countries whose GDP at current prices represents less than 1 % of the corresponding total of the European Union. Some variables may be voluntary for annual and/or quarterly data. For more information, please see the transmission requirements of Tables 8/801, 6 and 7 in the ESA 2010 Transmission programme of data.
Note 5: National sources and methods may differ between non-financial and financial accounts, resulting in discrepancies in net borrowing /net lending as reported in the two sets of accounts (B.9 and B.9F respectively). There may also be differences in national revision policy and delivery dates to Eurostat.
Note 6: For some countries non-financial accounts are not fully balanced (GDP is not equal to the sum of its components, net lending/net borrowing is not equal to sum of values by sectors). This is due to statistical discrepancies that are not recorded explicitly in sector accounts tables.
Note 7: Due to the conversion to euro, the growth rates of European Union aggregates may be affected by movements in exchange rates and should be viewed with caution.
Note 8: As cross-border flows within the area concerned (and resulting asymmetries) have been removed, sector accounts for the European Union and the Euro area aggregates are internally consistent but have discrepancies with other national accounts data.
Note 9: Quarterly financial accounts are not available for European Union aggregates.
