In the EU, 68 % of internet users ordered good or services online and their top purchases were clothes and/or sports goods. E-shopping is popular among all age groups.

The majority of e-shoppers did not experience any problems when ordering or buying online.

2.2 Online businesses & e-sales

In the EU, one out of five businesses sells online. These e-sales make up 18 % of total turnover.

Businesses that sell online can do so via websites and apps and/or in an automated way via EDI-type messages. In the EU, 13 % of businesses used websites or apps to sell their goods or services to consumers (B2C) and 11 % to other businesses (B2B).
