Expenditure on unemployment function encompasses social benefits related to unemployment. Expenditure is disaggregated by means testing and by detailed social benefit type, distinguishing periodic and lump sum cash benefits and benefits in kind, including full and partial unemployment, early retirement for labour market reasons, vocational training and placement services. The population encompasses all social protection schemes including central, state or local government and other non‑government controlled schemes, with basic and supplementary components. Expenditure is available in different units of measure, using harmonized definitions to ensure cross‑country comparability.
