International development dialogue

Tomorrow, the 13th edition of the European Development Days (EDD), the leading global forum on development cooperation, kicks off in Brussels. The two day event will host more than 8,000 participants from 140 countries worldwide, representing 1,200 organisations from the development community, including Heads of State or Government, leading experts, key influencers and young leaders.
The European Commission has just launched a new and user-friendly tool to help stakeholders access and use EU aid data: the EU Aid Explorer. Thanks to the EU Aid Explorer, the EU and its Member States will remain among the most transparent donors in the world. The Explorer offers an overview and details of all EU programmes and projects since 2007. It includes over one million entries.
Europe and Africa are each other’s closest neighbours. What happens in Africa matters in Europe, and vice versa. As equal partners with mutual interests we are working together to tackle today’s challenges from investing in youth, fostering sustainable development and strengthening peace and security to boosting investment on the African continent, good governance and better managing migration: a partnership that works on the basis of reciprocal commitments.
On 27 and 28 November 2018, the African Union and the European Union held a Technical Workshop on Sustainable Reintegration of migrants in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the support of the International Organization for Migration. As part of the work of the AU-EU-UN Taskforce on the Situation of Migrants in Libya, participants exchanged good practices, identified challenges and lessons learned, and looked at what more can be done to achieve sustainable reintegration of migrants returning to their home countries from various regions.

Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, is attending the UN High Level Political Forum on 16-17 July in New York together with Karmenu Vella, Commissioner in charge of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Numerous Heads of State and Government will join them and major actors in development to discuss sustainable development.
The 6th High Level EU-Japan Development Policy Dialogue took place on 3 July 2018 in Brussels.
