Kebbeh Dolo, a 21-year-old farmer in the Nyanta Community, which is located 50 kilometer from Gbarnga the Capital City of the County, is a vegetable farmer engaged with the production of bitter balls (garden eggs) and hot pepper. Through the LICSIP project she is now being trained in becoming a cocoa farmer. The photo depicts her amidst her seedlings.
Young female farmer Martha G. Kollie, 32 years old and a mother or 4 children, is one of the many farmers that are benefiting from the implementation of the Liberia Cocoa Sector Improvement Programme - LICSIP, funded by the European Union in Liberia and Solidaridad West Africa. The Programme is implemented by Solidaridad West Africa - Liberia.Martha, like several other farmers, has received improved cocoa seedlings, trainings on Best Management Practice for Cocoa and others.
The objective of this project is to create a vibrant, competitive and profitable cocoa economy driven by farmer groups/associations and private cocoa supply chain companies.
