Context: Promotion of rule of law and State accountability Objectives: The project aimed to foster greater accountability of public institutions and leaders to citizens in line with the Constitution of Lesotho. Results: 
The objectives pursued by the programme are to contribute to the consolidation of democracy ensuring an inclusive, rights based society and an efficient and transparent administration.

The specific objective of this programme is to contribute to current reform processes in the area of rule of law, accountability, anti-corruption and environmental governance. This will be done through support to key institutions, and by increasing public organisations, civil society and the media to hold government accountable for these sector reforms. The programme has two interlinked and mutually supportive key results:

Today, during the European Development Days in Brussels, Neven Mimica, Commissioner for International Development and Cooperation, is signing four Financing Agreements, for a total of €94.5 million funded through the Nigeria 11th European Development Fund (EDF). The Financing Agreements are counter-signed by Mrs Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, Nigerian Federal Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, also Deputy National Authorising Officer for Nigeria for EDF Funds.
Today, the European Commission signed new support to the Kyrgyz Republic. The focus of this support is to strengthen the rule of law (€13 million), as well as rural development (€10 million) in the country. This contribution forms part of the overall support to the Kyrgyz Republic amounting to €184 million for the period 2014-2020.
