EU External Investment Plan - Operational Report 2018: The European Fund for Sustainable Development, Promoting investment in the EU Neighbourhood and Africa
This report covers the first year of the operation of the European Fund for Sustainable Development (EFSD). As such, it merges into one the reports on blended finance operations under the Africa Investment Platform (AIP, formerly the AfIF) and the European Neighbourhood Platform (NIP, formerly the NIF). It presents the first results of the EFSD, such as approved blending investments, and the first steps towards implementing the EFSD Guarantee.
Summaries of the 28 guarantees proposed under the European Fund for Sustainable Development (EFSD) Guarantee – part of the EU External Investment Plan (EIP).
The European Commission proposed on 14 September 2016 an ambitious External Investment Plan (EIP) to encourage investment in our partner countries in Africa and the EU Neighbourhood region, to strengthen our partnerships and contribute to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, helping to address some root causes of migration. Part of the EIP is the new European Fund for Sustainable Development (EFSD) as an integral financing mechanism to support investments by public financial institutions and the private sector.
