Colombia Trust Fund

Colombia Trust Fund

Supporting cultural and social work to help reintegrating those who once left for war. The graffiti contest sponsored by the EU in Agua Bonita was a good example of this work. Under this integral rural development initiative, unlikely partners in the past such as the military and the ex-combatants, work together along with local communities, European companies and municipal institutions to secure a brighter future in peace.
In Colombia, the EU Trust Fund demonstrated its ability to quickly turn political priorities into action on the ground. Following the agreement between President Santos and Commissioner Mimica in May 2018 to devote € 15 million of the Trust Fund to support the reincorporation of former FARC combatants, activities started in the Temporary Reincorporation Centre of Agua Bonita (Caquetá) as soon as August.
