The general objective of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Improving Retention and Achievement is work on preventing dropout, reducing repetition, and promoting achievement of students in Lebanon.

Private not-for-profit organisations have a long and strong tradition of providing non-formal education services in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. Their role in filling the gaps of the formal but basic UNRWA system is irreplaceable. The project will provide grants to not-forprofit organisations for actions in those domains where UNRWA covers the needs insufficiently or not at all.
