Support for the implementation of the Private Sector Development Strategy in Botswana

The overall objective of the Private Sector Development Programme is to contribute to economic growth, employment creation and diversification resulting in the reduction of poverty. The specific objectives of the project are to:

  • strengthen the capacity and competitiveness of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and Community Based Organisation including value chains in a selected number of sectors.
  • enhance the service delivery of targeted Intermediary Organisations and Business Development Service Providers.
  • inform and raise awareness for trade agreements.  

The expected results of the project are to strengthen private sector intermediary organisations and companies, particularly SMMEs as well as women owned businesses to ensure that they are more competitive and that they contribute to the economic diversification process and ultimately reduction of poverty in an improved business environment.
