Maternal Health Survey

Maternal Health Survey

The 2017 Maternal Health Survey to be conducted in Ghana is within the scope of the Maternal Acceleration Framework (MAF) operational plan to evaluate Ghana’s progress towards the framework’s' objectives and achievement of the broader national maternal and reproductive health goals.

The survey, among its various objectives, is expected to collect data on maternal mortality rate and causes of maternal deaths at national and zonal levels - this will allow an assessment of the maternal mortality situation in the country. It also serves as a source of information on women’s' perceptions and experience with antenatal, maternity, and emergency obstetric care. It will measure indicators for the use of maternal health services which will enable health authorities to identify obstetric emergencies' obstacles which have implications for maternal mortality rates.
