LAND Justice - Land Access Network for Development and Justice

LAND Justice - Land Access Network for Development and Justice

The overall objective of the projct is "to contribute towards the enforcement of human rights and democratic processes on land rights issues through citizens' participation and access to justice" in Zambia.

The specific objective is "to increase secure access and ownership of land for sustainable development and livelihoods for six local communities in Chembe, Chienge and Mansa Districts of Luapula Province."

The action is designed to follow a two-track approach that aims on the one hand to improve community access, empowerment and participation in land rights and, on the other, to guarantee better policy engagement with decision makers in reforming customary land administration.

To measure the achievement of the first part of this approach, the action will monitor the percentage increase in ownership of land in the three target districts t with the target for at least 15% of households (with 30% being women). For the policy approach the action is aiming for at least two policy provisions are adopted by Government that improve the security of land tenure.
